YouTuber Sebastián Funes killed in car crash alongside dad after gran’s funeral

A renowned streamer and his father tragically lost their lives in a car accident while returning from his grandmother’s funeral. Sebastián Funes had travelled with his family to the service in Pehuajó, Argentina.
On their return trip to Buenos Aires on Sunday (July 5), they were involved in a multi-vehicle crash with a pickup truck and a lorry at km 349 on National Route 5. The accident claimed the lives of 27-year-old Sebastián and his father.
His mother and 12-year-old sister sustained injuries and were rushed to a hospital in Pehuajó. The driver of the pickup suffered minor injuries, while the lorry driver walked away unscathed.
Originally hailing from Pehuajó, Sebastián had been residing in the Argentine capital, as reported by NeedToKnow.
Better recognised online as Chatterbox, he was a prominent figure within Argentina’s gaming community. He had garnered 1.69m YouTube subscribers, 1.1m TikTok followers, 145,000 Instagram followers and 107,000 Twitch followers.
His friend Valentín penned an emotional tribute online: “I never imagined the day would come when I’d have to say goodbye to a friend.
“Many people knew Chatterbox, but I was lucky enough to know Seba. He was one of the few people in this industry I could truly call a friend.
“He came to my home, I introduced him to my friends and he introduced me to his. Seba was an incredible person.
“He was always there for his friends and never made a bad decision. Yet sometimes bad things happen to very good people.”
Lucas, another mate, penned: “Life is so unfair. I’ll miss you forever, my friend. From nights out, conversations about failed relationships and training together.
“Maybe we didn’t see each other as much lately, but thank you for pushing me to give everything on social media and for being the first person to help me so much.
“I love you. Fly high, beast.”
He later added: “You were an incredible person, Seba, and at least I’m happy that you achieved so many of the things you set out to do.”
The precise cause of the crash is still under investigation.
However, investigators suspect it may have occurred during an overtaking manoeuvre on rain-drenched roads following a heavy downpour earlier that day.
