Wife claims husband ‘refused to pay her medical bills but bought sex toys for mistress’
A husband allegedly kept his £1.5million fortune a secret from his wife and even splashed out on sex toys for his lover while his partner struggled to pay her hospital bills
A woman whose husband allegedly refused to pay her medical bills but splashed out on sex toys for his mistress says she stayed in the relationship for the sake of a “complete family.”
The woman, identified in local reports only as Wang, claims her partner never disclosed his £1.5 million fortune to her, even while she struggled to pay medical bills amounting to a fraction of that sum for injuries she alleges he inflicted on her.
The Chinese man – referred to as Mr He in local media – was reportedly found guilty of intentionally assaulting his wife and given a prison sentence and ordered to pay compensation. However the precise details of his sentence have not been disclosed.
Wang and He married in 1998 and had a child together a year later. However Wang claims the relationship soured and alleged He became abusive around eight years after they wed, according to a report in the South China Morning Post.
The 53-year-old alleges that her husband assaulted her on at least ten occasions between 2020 and 2023, leaving her with multiple serious injuries including three broken ribs, hearing loss and brain damage.
Wang claims while she struggled to pay her 7000 yuan (£775) hospital bills, her husband was covering up a secret fortune which she only discovered while collecting information on his bank accounts.
Wang claims that there were signs that he had more money than he let on.
She said: “I wear T-shirts worth less than 100 yuan each, but he always wears branded clothes and avails himself of cosmetic medicine services regularly.”
And to add insult to injury, Wang claims that she discovered that her husband had been having an affair and was even buying the woman sex toys.
Wang also alleges that the mistress made threatening calls to her, and at one point warned that she would hire a hitman if the pair did not get a divorce.
When asked why she chose to stay with He, Wang told local media that her daughter had initially begged her to remain in the relationship, saying that she wanted “a complete family”.
However, the girl, who was 13 at the time, allegedly turned on her father and served as a witness at his trial, supporting allegations of domestic violence.
Wang told local media: “I feel sorry for myself because I was treated wrongly by him.”
She has reportedly filed for divorce, and the case remains ongoing.
