Daizen Maeda hopes he will one day return to Celtic Park to watch his son play for the Hoops after ending his spell in Glasgow with a move to Ipswich.

In a message on social media which he posted to the “Celtic family”, the 28-year-old wrote: “The last four and a half years at Celtic have been the most special chapter of my career and my life.

“It has been an incredible honour to wear this badge, to play for this amazing club, and to share so many unforgettable moments with my teammates, the staff, and the best supporters in the world.

“Thank you for standing by me through every high and low. Your incredible support gave me strength every single day, and I will always be grateful.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in Glasgow who welcomed and supported my family.

“Because of your kindness and generosity, my family was able to enjoy an unforgettable time here. Glasgow will always hold a very special place in our hearts and will forever be our second home.

“My son loves Celtic so much that he already says he wants to wear the Celtic shirt and play at Celtic Park one day.

“I truly hope that dream comes true, and I hope our family will be back here again someday.

Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh will have a medical with Celtic in the next 24 hours, says manager Martin O’Neill.

Emiliano Martinez wants to leave Aston Villa this summer, Juventus boss Luciano Spaletti has claimed.

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund dismissed the speculation on Sunday, amid reports that Florentino Perez is a fan of the France international.

“This is not a topic for us at all,” Freund said. “We are delighted that Michael Olise has returned from his holiday.

“He will continue to play an important role at Bayern Munich this season, just like last year.”

Real Madrid, meanwhile, agreed personal terms with winger Yan Diomande and the Spanish giants are set to beat PSG, Liverpool and Man City to his signature.

Real’s latest bid, that was rejected by Leipzig, was €90m plus €10m and the 19-year-old Ivorian while PSG have again been in contact trying to sort a fee.
