Samsung Galaxy Buds On’s Clip-On Design Keeps Ears Open for All Day Listening With Strong Battery and Gemini

Samsung’s first clip-on earbuds rest against the outer ear instead of pressing into the canal, leaving the path clear so traffic, conversations, and doorbells stay audible while music plays. Each piece weighs 6.65 grams and uses a curved band shaped from more than 119 million ear measurements plus computer modeling that tested pressure points and stiffness across many shapes. The result is a low-pressure hold meant to stay put during runs or walks without pinching. Black is the only color, the earbuds carry an IP54 rating for light dust and rain splashes, and the matching case measures 51 by 51 by 28.3 millimeters and weighs 41 grams.
Sound emanates from an 11.3-millimeter TwinBoost speaker, which employs not one, but two drivers to produce far more low-end punch than standard open earbuds. Volume will rise or fall in response to how noisy the environment around you is, ensuring that your tunes are as clear as a bell even while you’re outside. Galaxy Buds also feature Audio Leakage Reduction, which effectively cancels out some of the sound that would otherwise seep out from behind each speaker, allowing you to enjoy the music alone. Unlike some other earbuds, there is no active noise cancelation, which helps keep power consumption low and allows the earbuds to play for up to 9.5 hours of continuous music on a single charge, easily the longest Samsung has specified for any Galaxy Buds model to date. Throwing in a case gives you an additional 38 hours to play with. For calls, you’re looking at about 5.5 hours per charge on a single pop, or 25 hours with the case.
Galaxy Buds feature three microphones that work in tandem with a Voice Pickup Unit, which detects all vibrations in your skin and bones while you speak – very cool. Then comes machine learning, which separates your voice from all the background noise, such as horns or jackhammers, and sends it into Samsung’s sophisticated Intelligent Clear Call processing. All of this is communicated via a Bluetooth 6.2 link, and it also supports all of the standard codecs, such as Samsung Seamless Codec, AAC, and LC3. When you want to pair with a Galaxy phone or tablet, simply open the case. You can also connect to a non-Samsung Android phone running 12 or newer, albeit some features may be limited.
Saying “Hey Google, let’s talk live” starts a hands-free conversation with Gemini. A long press on the touch surface begins a Quick Voice Memo that can later be searched through Bixby. Nodding accepts an incoming call while shaking the head declines it; the same motions can dismiss an alarm or trigger a notification readout once the options are turned on in settings. Tap controls on the rear of each earbud handle music and basic calls. All of this runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform paired with a high-efficiency Class-D amplifier that stretches playback time even at higher volumes.
Availability in the United States begins in early November for $229. Korea received the pair first, on October 27, for roughly the same price. For listeners who already have sealed Galaxy Buds for focused work and want a second set that leaves the ear canal open for outdoor movement, the Buds On fill that precise need with a secure clip, measured battery data, and direct access to Gemini without having to pull out a phone.
