Hull City midfielder Sorba Thomas escaped unhurt after crashing his Land Rover on a residential street on Friday morning.

The 27-year-old’s vehicle, which is worth around £160,000, was pictured upside down with the glass smashed on Millhouse Wood Lane, Cottingham.

The crash happened around 9am on Friday, with fire engines and police in attendance. Hull manager Sergej Jakirovic was also pictured at the scene.

Hull have confirmed that Thomas was unhurt from the crash on the narrow road which runs alongside the club’s training ground.

A statement from Hull on Friday morning read: ‘Hull City is relieved to confirm that Sorba Thomas is unharmed following a road traffic accident near to the club’s Cottingham training ground.

‘The club is aware of images of Sorba’s car circulating on social media and can reassure supporters that he has sustained no injuries and emerged from his vehicle completely unscathed.’

Thomas was signed from Championship side Stoke City for £10 million in the summer transfer window.

Speaking at his press conference on Thursday, Jakirovic praised Thomas following his move to the newly promoted Premier League side.

‘I don’t have any doubt about Sorba because he made a difference in the Championship,’ Jakirovic said.

‘He is a left winger and we can use him inside like a left-sided No 10. He knows football. He is very good in delivery and his end product is good. Also, he has very good set-pieces.

‘He is sharp and has speed. Also, in defence, he is very responsible. I think he suits us a lot. Like always, I hope he can help us.’
