Mum-of-two, 35, dies in birthday party tragedy after 13ft fall as balcony ‘collapses’

A mum-of-two has tragically died after birthday party celebrations turn to horror scenes after part of a balcony she was standing on suddenly collapsed. Lorenna Moraes was celebrating with family and friends when part of the house’s balcony gave way on Saturday night (July 18).

The 35-year-old reportedly fell around 13ft and suffered severe injuries, including one injury to her head. She reportedly went into cardiac arrest twice, according to local reports.

Emergency responders treated her at the scene in Uruçuca, Brazil, before she was rushed to a specialist hospital in nearby Ilhéus.

Despite doctors’ best efforts to save her, she sadly died later that night. Lorenna owned the CT Evolução Academia gym in Ilhéus and was well known in the local fitness community.

In the days before the tragedy, she had been sharing her excitement on social media about opening a new branch of her business, which was reportedly in its final stages of preparation.

The cause of the balcony collapse is currently being investigated by authorities.

Photos from the scene appear to suggest the balcony railing gave way. According to local reports, Lorenna is believed to have hit her head on the kerb after falling.

Lorenna is survived by her husband, their son and daughter, and her mother. She regularly shared glimpses of her family life on social media.

In a post from May, she wrote: “Holding my children’s hands, hearing their laughter and creating memories that will last a lifetime… is priceless.”

Earlier that month, she wrote: “Being a mother has completely transformed me. It has taught me about strength, devotion and boundless love.

“And having a mother reminds me every day where my care, my courage and my way of loving come from.

“I am grateful for the arms that once held me… and for the arms that I can now open to my children.”
