Carrick expecting ‘best version’ of Spurs
Michael Carrick isn’t deceived by Tottenham’s position in the Premier League table (20th).
He’s expecting a good team to turn up at Old Trafford and make things tricky for the hosts.
“Yeah, points-wise, I think they’ve played a lot better than that, at times,” Carrick admitted.
“When you look at the games, they’re a very good team with some very good players, obviously. Assembled a squad this summer that’s a little bit different to maybe what they’ve had.
“But they’re a good team just because of the points. I understand the question, but we’re not going into it expecting anything less than their best version of what we know what they’re capable of, and actually they have shown for a large part, but probably haven’t had the results that maybe the performances deserve.”

Carrick on Baleba
Carlos Baleba has yet to make his debut for Manchester United but Michael Carrick says he will not rush his introduction into the team.
“He’s certainly getting closer, Carlos,” Carrick said on Friday.
“It’s been great to have him out on the grass and to see him up close really. And [he] played a little bit in a training game that we had last week, so that was good for him to get some minutes. I think the other side of it a little bit, he has missed a lot, and he’s missed crucial time in terms of the end of pre-season.
“There’s a little bit of patience there for him to get up to speed, and that’s up to us to pick that right time for him as well, but he offers us a lot. I’ve said it before, the midfield that we’ve got, we’re really happy with, and the selections and the options that we have, and he definitely adds to that.”

De Zerbi waiting for this match for three weeks
Roberto de Zerbi says he’s been waiting for this match for three weeks and it’s a big game for the club.
“I’ve been waiting for this game for three weeks, because after the defeat at home against Aston Villa, personally I wanted to play the day after,” De Zerbi said.
“We are Tottenham, and United and Tottenham are still big clubs in the Premier League. We have to deserve to work in this club, playing better and making different results.”

De Zerbi on Mateus Fernandes
One of Tottenham’s main players, Mateus Fernandes, was wanted by Manchester United in the summer.
He ended up making a move to Tottenham instead and now must perform to drag the team out of the trouble they find themselves in.
Roberto de Zerbi said: “Fernandes is a great player, maybe one of the best players in our team. He needs time to understand the club, he needs time to come inside well and better in the environment of Tottenham, but I have big confidence.
“He has to react. Life in football is tough, it’s difficult and the most important thing is the reaction to go through the problem.
“He doesn’t start the bad or worse than others but even well, he has to be stronger and he has all my confidence. He has all the confidence of the club but he needs time and we have to give him time.”

Van de Ven on the bench
For Tottenham, Micky van de Ven is only on the bench as Marcos Senesi starts.
“Mateus Fernandes is another substitute, despite being an £85m signing and one United wanted to buy.”

Surprises for Manchester United
A couple of surprises in the Manchester United team with Leny Yoro in, perhaps to play right-back, and Amad Diallo starting.
“Marcus Rashford is only on the bench, presumably meaning Bryan Mbeumo plays centre forward.”
