Highland cow dubbed Nostrada-moo predicts Scotland to make deep run in World Cup
Steve Clarke’s side have received the backing of a very special clairvoyant heifer who thinks the Scots will make it to the quarter finals in a record-breaking competition for Scotland
Scotland have been tipped to reach the knockout stages of the World Cup tonight (Fri) for the first time – by a psychic cow. Two-year-old Senga has backed Steve Clarke’s side to make history by getting out of the group stages when they clash with Morocco in Massachusetts.
And the mystic bovine corrected predicted the Scots would beat Haiti last week and guessed John McGinn would be their top-scorer before his winning goal.
Faced with a choice of feed buckets labelled with the outcomes of Scotland’s group games, the Highland hairy heifer has predicted a draw against Morocco and a defeat to Brazil. Scotland will likely need to draw against either Morocco tonight (Fri) or Brazil on Wednesday to reach the last 32.
Neale McQuistin, from Kitchen Coos and Ewes in Dumfries and Galloway where the cow lives, said: “We always knew Senga was special, but we didn’t expect her to become a football pundit. She’s usually incredibly level-headed, but if she thinks we can take four points from the group, the Tartan Army should start letting themselves believe anything is possible.”
Clarke’s men are playing in their first World Cup since 1998. The Tartan Army have been hailed for taking over America.
More than 20,000 fans travelled to Massachusetts for the opening two group stage games. Around 5,000 supporters are staying in Rhode Island and have been praised for raising thousands of pounds that will be donated to local charities.
And they may need a longer stay in the US with Senga predicting the Scots will make it to the quarter-finals. But the clairvoyant cow also forecast that England will reach the semis – but get dumped out on penalties.
Alex Apati, PR Manager at Ladbrokes which has teamed up with the farm animal, said: “If Scotland make it to the quarter finals and England go out on penalties, then we might see Senga becoming an honorary member of the Tartan Army.
“We’ve already seen a flurry of bets on an England shootout exit, because if there’s one thing more reliable than a psychic cow, it’s English penalty heartbreak.”
