Ford Bronco Frostwarden Hits SEMA with 1200 Horsepower Arctic Rescue Power

Ford Bronco Frostwarden Concept SEMA 2026
Ford rolled a single Bronco into SEMA this week built specifically for the kind of winter work most vehicles never attempt. Named Frostwarden, the one-off sits on portal gear lifts from 74Weld, runs 42-inch BFGoodrich tires on custom 18-inch Weld bead-lock wheels, and carries a supercharged 7.3-liter V8 that produces more than 1,200 horsepower and more than 1,000 lb-ft of torque on race fuel. The whole package was assembled by Kincer Chassis in Tennessee as a demonstration of what Ford Racing Parts and a short list of partners can do when the brief is simply to go as far as the platform allows.

Work on the Frostwarden concept began in February, but by June, the pace had increased significantly, and by October, the completed Megazilla 2.0 engine had already been dyno-tested and transported overnight for installation, a first fire, and final calibration. The engine itself is a beast, with a stronger block, a supercharger-specific camshaft, larger pistons, larger fuel injectors, a reworked belt drive / damper, and a 3.0-litre Gen 6 Whipple supercharger. Ford says it the most powerful crate engine any carmaker has ever supplied, and the Frostwarden is the first vehicle to feature it. The part number is M-6007-MZ73MD, however keep in mind that it is only meant for custom racing builds and antique car conversions, not factory Broncos.

The Frostwarden’s exterior is a true show stopper, with black and yellow paintwork and an ultra-wide stance thanks to portal gear lifts rather than standard suspension lifts. Underneath, custom Bilstein dampers and enhanced Dana driveline components are installed, with a 10R100 transmission from an F-Series Super Duty handling the power in this project.

A yellow front tow winch is hidden under a redesigned bumper, a giant yellow LED light bar hangs above the windshield, and a steel roof rack holds a spare tire, recovery tracks, and spare fuel canisters, as there is an external fuel tank out back. Steel cross sections support the cabin, and the fender flares have been redesigned to accommodate the huge tires. The whole thing resembles a stretched, massively modified Bronco Raptor, designed for deep snow and harsh conditions.

Inside the Frostwarden, the seats, door panels, and dashboard all match the black and yellow pattern. The redesigned steering wheel has some carbon fiber details and a Megazilla emblem on the lower spoke. However, don’t mistake it for a luxury ride; this cabin is intended to be utilitarian during long recovery runs rather than a spectacle. However, the color combination makes it stand out, especially against a snowy setting.

Ford isn’t selling the Frostwarden since the vehicle is just a concept designed to showcase their new crate engine and demonstrate the extreme off-road hardware they can construct. As the build team describes it, it is a snowbound Arctic search-and-rescue gear capable of handling duties when standard equipment fails. The combination of massive portal axles, 42-inch tires, reinforced driveline, and four-digit horsepower is intended to transport serious weight across difficult terrain while still carrying recovery gear, as seen at SEMA, and it makes a strong statement about that concept.
