Burly bloke cops dress in ‘sexy’ drag to catch ‘drug dealer’ at street party

A group of ‘ladyboys in blue’ have raised eyebrows after the mostly male cops dressed in flamboyant women’s clothes to blend into a parade in order to catch suspected drug dealer Mekha Fa-wap-wap

A group of burly coppers have made headlines after they dressed up as female dancers in order to bring down an alleged drug dealer in Thailand.

The team of officers, made up of five blokes and one woman, shared a snap of themselves in frilly sequenced dresses grinning alongside the suspected dealer on Facebook, after what they say was a successful operation in Tha Luang, eastern Thailand.

The alleged dealer, named in the press as Mekha Fa-wap-wap, was arrested while attending a street festival known for its elaborately dressed dancers, meaning the cops cunning disguises meant they blended in brilliantly, according to reports.

Fa-wap-wap was allegedly found with up to 53 methamphetamine pills and over 200 plastic bags to hold drugs as well as mobile phone, according to a police statement.

He now faces charges for possessing category one narcotics for sale and operating an unauthorized slot machine, according to the Times of India.

Interestingly, the dance troupe bust, which social media users have compared to the popular film 21 Jump Street for how elaborate it was, is just one of many ambitious stunts used by Thai police to crack down on criminals.

Thai coppers have previously dressed as construction workers, street vendors and even lion dancers at Lunar New Year parades to sneak up on suspects undetected, meaning those they are pursuing do not have the chance to escape or dash their stash.

Not all Thai police stunts are so flamboyant, however. The Asian county’s force are currently cracking down on sex workers operating in the country, especially in the city of Pattaya.

Thai cops are cracking down on sex tourism in a desperate bid to clean up the reputation of the popular beach resort, which about 90 miles east of capital Bangkok – and is the world’s number one sex tourist destination with around 60,000 sex workers.

Dubbed the “porn version of Disneyland”, the Sin City boasts hundreds of go-go bars, massage parlours and brothels. But the Tourist Police refuse to give up their battle to overhaul the resort’s image in a bid to attract more families.

Cops this month swooped in popular tourist areas such Pattaya Beach and Beach Road to nick 16 sex workers, mainly women from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uganda.
