Audi’s New Nuvolari Supercar Packs 987 Hybrid Horsepower Into One of Its Rarest Cars Ever

Audi Nuvolari Supercar Hybrid Reveal
Audi developed the Nuvolari in secrecy and revealed it as a limited-edition hybrid supercar that revives the spirit of legendary racer Tazio Nuvolari. Only 499 examples will be built. The car uses a mid-engine layout and draws direct inspiration from Audi’s Formula 1 program in its aerodynamics, materials, and control systems.

Designers covered the entire vehicle in carbon fiber reinforced polymer, the first time Audi has utilized this material extensively on a production vehicle. As a result, the overall design is clean and tight, with precise rectangular elements that lend to a purposeful posture. Most of the time, titanium paint is used to catch the light and highlight the lines, but the carbon fibre option allows owners to show off the raw fiber weave. An S-duct under the hood generates downforce and cools the engine. The exhaust is mounted high above a massive diffuser, and the rear wing can be deployed in three different configurations, with the most aggressive position producing an incredible 882 pounds of downforce. If you want to really open it up on a long straight, utilize the manual DRS setting on the steering wheel to cut drag significantly.

Under the hood is a 4 liter twin-turbo V8, which produces 789 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque on its own, but there are also three axial-flux electric motors. Two of these are located at the front axle, and the third is neatly tucked inside the rear transmission. Overall, it produces 987 horsepower, making it a fearsome supercar to say the least. The battery pack has a capacity of 7.3 kWh, which is enough to allow the car to travel a few miles on its own electric power while also aiding in torque vectoring at the front wheels. Then there’s the new quattro predictive ride setup, which integrates the powertrain, active aerodynamics, suspension, and brakes to work seamlessly whether you’re on the track or driving down the road.

The performance numbers are, of course, impressive: 2.6 seconds to 62 mph, 6.8 seconds to 124 mph, and a top speed of nearly 217 mph, making it Audi’s fastest production vehicle ever. To help you stop all of this in one piece, there are the new Ceramic Pro carbon-ceramic brakes, which have massive discs and 10-piston front calipers that are nearly as good as those used in recent Formula One vehicles. Another Audi first, the forged center-lock wheels are equipped with extremely high-performance Bridgestone Potenza Race rubber, 255/35R-20 in the front and 325/30R-21 in the rear.

Inside, the cabin is separated into two distinct sections. The main portion is dark and subdued to retain your focus on the road ahead, but as you approach the back, things lighten up with a contrasting Shadow Dune treatment. The seat shells are made of carbon fiber, and the controls are where they should be, with the proper buttons and knobs and a huge column-mounted paddle shifter. A vertical touchscreen sits between the center console and the dashboard, and because there is no rear window, the rearview mirror shows a camera feed instead. If you look closely around the doors, you’ll discover multiple well-camouflaged air vents that feed the mid-mounted engine and cool the hybrid system.

Production starts early next year, with deliveries planned in the first half of 2027. In Germany, prices begin at 600,000 euros, which corresponds to approximately 687,000 USD when exchange rates are considered. Because this is not your regular Audi sale, you must go through one of a few handpicked dealers to purchase one.
