A British rapper is being held by police in Dubai on drug charges after a huge amount of cannabis was found in his suitcase.

The unnamed rapper has been detained in Dubai alongside a Russian dancer after a whopping 17 kilograms of cannabis were allegedly found in a suitcase.

The musician, known to be in his 30s, was released on bail by UAE authorities – but later was rearrested after the Russian woman he was with, named as Karina Zorina, 29, claimed to cops that he had framed her.

She claims she had met the star when she worked in a nightclub called Moulin Rouge, in Phuket, Thailand and they decided to travel together to Dubai to renew their working visas.

The Russian woman insists that a bag was checked in under her name -without her approval – on the flight from Bangkok to Dubai.

When airport officials in Dubai opened the luggage assigned to her name, it is claimed customs officers found the haul of sealed black packages which were filled with cannabis.

Both were detained, and at first, the rapper tried to shift the blame onto the Russian woman, and he was released on bail.

She was then interviewed and told police her side, including about the bags being switched, and then he was re-arrested by police and remains in custody.

“Zorina insists on taking a polygraph test with the rapper,” reported outlet Mash.

“She is sure that [the rapper] set her up.”

Zorina’s legal team has also requested CCTV footage from the airport, as well as fingerprints from the suitcase and other forensic evidence to prove their daughter’s claimed innocence, saying they will not give up the fight to prove her innocence. If found guilty, long prison sentences and even the death penalty could be imposed on the pair under the UAE’s strict drug laws.

Possession can lead to lengthy prison sentences, deportation, and even execution. Smuggling or dealing carries the harshest punishments.

Any quantity found – even 0.01g – can result in being banged up. In fact, you don’t even need to be found with drugs on you.

If your blood tests positive for traces of drugs, then this counts as possession and can be prosecuted.
