Woman ‘abducted and gang-raped by driver and passengers’ as she was taunted after attack
WARNING, DISTRESSING CONTENT: A 43-year-old woman was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped by four men in a rickshaw in Tauru, India, with all four suspects arrested and charged with rape
A woman was reportedly abducted and gang-raped by a group of four men in a rickshaw. The victim, a 43-year-old female who was believed to be a widow, was said to be returning home after completing some administrative tasks.
She had travelled to Tauru, near the city of Nuh in northern India, before getting into a rickshaw.
As reported by the Tribune in India, instead of being transported back to Satlaka, her place of residence, three passengers in the rickshaw alighted to stand guard while the driver drew the curtains and assaulted her.
She was threatened with death if she screamed but managed to break free and flee when the suspects were distracted by the sound of a motorbike. The gang then allegedly taunted the victim, attempting to coerce her into silence.
Four men have since been arrested and charged with rape following the incident, which occurred on June 26, 2026, reports the Express.
Inspector Chanderbhan of Tauru police stated that an investigation into the attack is ongoing.
This news follows the tragic discovery of a 12-year-old girl’s body in a pond after she was gang-raped en route to a shop.
She failed to return home and was reported missing before her body was discovered in a pond, concealed in a sack.
Two men have been arrested following the horrific incident that took place in the city of Baruipur in West Bengal, India.
The incident, which transpired on July 5, sparked protests and heated demonstrations.
As revealed by the Express, Kankar Prasad Barui, Inspector General of Police, declared: “The situation is under control. A large police picket has been deployed and no one involved in this heinous crime will be spared.
“We will ensure that all the accused are arrested and the strongest possible punishment is sought.”
