Twin sisters, 15-months-old, found dead in bed ‘from dehydration’ as parents in custody

Twin girls, just 15-months old, have been found dead in their beds in a state of rigor mortis, according to reports in France, as the parents have been arrested with another sibling in a critical condition

Fifteen-month-old twin sisters have reportedly died “from dehydration” after being found dead tucked up in beds in France. Their parents have since been taken into police custody.

The tragedy took place in the town of Beuvrages, near Valenciennes (Nord), and also saw four other children in the house also suffering from dehydration. The kids were ages, three, four, five and six.

According to RTL, one of the other siblings is currently in a critical condition in hospital after being airlifted from the home. The parents reportedly found the twins dead in bed and were allegedly in a state of rigor mortis, sources in France have claimed.

The couple were taken to Valenciennes police station as their home was sealed off while an investigation takes place.

The police are looking into the matter as “deprivation of care resulting in the death of a minor under 15 years of age”.

The family had only recently moved to the area in the last two months and kept a low profile,. according to neighbours speaking to RTL.

In a statement released this evening (June 29), the public prosecutor of Valenciennes confirmed twin girls were found “lifeless in their respective beds”.

They also confirmed that an autopsy will be performed tomorrow (June 30) to determine the circumstances of their deaths.

The prosecutor is “exploring in particular the possibility of dehydration due to the high temperature recorded.”
