Jackery Explorer 100D Redefines Portable Power With a Palm-Sized Design

Most portable power stations ask you to leave them at home or in the car because their size turns every outing into a logistics problem. Jackery’s Explorer 100D measures about 4.6 by 3.4 by 3.4 inches and weighs roughly 1.87 pounds, small enough to rest in one hand or disappear into a backpack, purse, or carry-on without forcing a reshuffle of everything else you already packed.
The compact housing houses a 96 watt-hour lithium iron phosphate battery. This is the same chemistry Jackery used across its whole lineup in 2023, a technology that has shown to be long-lasting and dependable. The cells can withstand 3,000 charge-discharge cycles while retaining more than 80% of their original power, which the company estimates to be about eight years of daily use. That’s a significant improvement over standard lithium-ion batteries, which can only go for a few hundred cycles before losing power. So, while this may be a low-cost alternative, it has the longevity of a product that you can rely on for many years.

Two USB-C ports can handle a combined 140 watts, while the 18-watt USB-A port raises the total to 158 watts, which is rather useful. You will also have support for Power Delivery, Programmable Power Supply, and Adjustable Voltage Supply. This means that rather than simply plugging in your devices and crossing your fingers, the station will automatically provide the appropriate quantity of power for your phone, laptop, camera, or mini drone. This makes it simple to charge a variety of gadgets without having to worry about locating the correct charger.

One charge from the 96wH battery will fully charge a 14-inch MacBook Pro or provide many full charges for a flagship phone. According to Jackery, an iPhone 17 can charge to 50% in 20 minutes and a DJI pocket 3 can charge to a significant amount in less than 10 minutes. When all three ports are used at the same time, the total power output remains at 158 watts. This means that if you’re charging a laptop and a phone at the same time, you’ll get a total of 158 watts, which may not be enough for each device but makes the most of what you have. The front panel features a small screen that shows how much battery life you have left and whether the device is consuming or producing power, so you don’t have to guess anymore.

Recharging the device is simple; a 100 watt USB-C can charge it up to 80% in approximately an hour and a half, and a full charge takes just under two hours. If you have a solar panel available, direct solar input up to 100 watts will take the same length of time. A regular 12v car charger takes slightly longer, about 3 hours, to reach 80%, but if you have a 24v charger in your car or anything, you can do it in less than two hours. The top has an inbuilt handle for easy gripping, and Jackery also includes an alternative shoulder strap if you wish to take it with you.

Availability in the United States begins in mid-November at Walmart for $99, with a two-unit bundle available at Costco for $179.99. As an added benefit, the 96 watt-hour battery fits neatly within the airport limit for lithium batteries in carry-on luggage, making this device suitable for use at home as well as on flights. If you need something bigger to cover your entire house, there are larger Jackery models available, but this is ideal for keeping your phone, laptop, and camera charged while on the move.
