Missing farmer’s terrifying death as his body found intact inside belly of 23-feet python

A missing Indonesian man’s corpse was pulled out of the belly of a mammoth 23-foot long python in a grim twist which shocked his whole community.

Akbar Salubiro, 25, went missing on March 26, 2017, on the island of Sulawesi, after leaving to harvest palm oil. Horrifyingly, police said they had found a huge snake they suspected had swallowed the man, according to the BBC.

The beast was a reticulated python, the longest snake species in the world. Horrifically, a video shot by police, showed the snake being cut open revealing Akbar’s still-clothed body.

The snake would have suffocated the victims before swallowing him whole. However, it is rare that these snakes eat humans.

Mashura, a spokesperson for the police in West Sulawesi province, told BBC Indonesian that villagers reported to Akbar had been missing for 24 hours.

Police then conducted a search and found the snake near the family’s palm plantation.

One villager said: “They didn’t find him (Akbar), but the villagers saw an unmoving python in the ditch. They grew suspicious that maybe the snake had Akbar. When they cut it open, Akbar was inside the snake,”

Village secretary Salubiro Junaidi told The Jakarta Post: “People had heard cries from the palm grove the night before Akbar was found in the snake’s stomach.

“When the snake was captured, the boots Akbar was wearing were clearly visible in the stomach of the snake. Resident[s] cut open the belly of the snake and Akbar was lifeless.”

Nia Kurniawan, from Brawijaya University, said a python of this size would hunt for large prey such as animals and primates.

It is thought this kind of snake can grow up to 32 feet in length and it is often treated as a sacred animal in parts of Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

In 2018 a mother-of-two’s body was discovered inside a given 23 foot-long snake in Indonesia. Wa Tiba’s corpse was covered in slime, and was only found once the swelling body of the snake was opened up.

The 54-year-old failed to return home after she went out to do some gardening one afternoon, meaning the alarm was raised.

Wa’s sons made the chilling discovery after spotting the killer python with a giant bulging belly barely able to move on the ground, just metres away from a patch of bushes where her sandals were found.

Her head was towards the snake’s tail with her feet close to its mouth, showing she had horrifyingly been swallowed head first.

Eye-witness Ayu Kartika said: “Everyone was crying, everybody was shocked. The poor woman. This is like a horror movie. People are terrified. We are scared to go outside. We can only pray for safety.”
